Phyllosporum - Phyllosporum

A crustacean lichen of the Graphaceae family that grows mainly on tree bark. Its symbiotic algae are from the green algae genus Viola. The odonta is elongated and slightly branched, giving it an appearance resembling writing. It has a black pericarp, and the spores are colorless, multilocular, and have horizontal septa. There are grooves along both sides of the pericarp, and seven species are found in Japan, including G. proserpens Vain., which is widely distributed throughout the country. おもに樹皮上に生じるモジゴケ科の固着地衣。共生藻は緑藻のスミレモ属。子器は細長く伸びて多少分枝し，文字を書いたような外観となる。黒色の果殻をもち，胞子は無色多室で横の隔膜がある。果殻の両わきにそって溝をもち，国内に広く分布するセスジモジゴケG.proserpens Vain.をはじめ，日本には7種がみられる。【柏谷 博之】
