Meshitsugi - Meshitsugi

Japanese:
Meshitsugi - Meshitsugi
A lower-ranking official who handled miscellaneous tasks at the Imperial Palace (the residence of the retired emperor). They made reports on occasions and accompanied the emperor on visits to the Imperial Palace. The term "shojisho" was used to refer to the shoji, which is a derivative term. The person in charge of command was called the shoji no cho, and those who worked there for many years were appointed as the chief. As they served in the Imperial Palace gardens, they were also called "Otsubo (Tsubo) shoji." In addition to the shoji ho in Kuwata County, Tanba Province, half of the grounds of Saishokoin Temple were used to pay for the shoji's clothing. During the Nanboku-cho period, the grounds of Goin Temple and other temples such as Rokushoji Temple were used for shoji and cattle herders, so it is possible that the shoji had other sources of economic support besides Saishokoin Temple.
