This term is given to French hard-boiled novels, and is named after the name of the series that Gallimard began publishing in 1945. It is said to have been coined by Jacques Prévert. Initially, the series mainly consisted of translations by J.H. Chase, R. Chandler, D. Hammett, and others, but the reason for its success was that it added a flavor for French readers rather than simply translating the English versions. Representative French authors include Albert Simonin, Le Breton, Frédéric Dahl, Jean Beauterin, and Jean-Patrick Manchette. Source : Heibonsha Encyclopedia About MyPedia Information |
当初はJ.H.
