Owari Plain - Owari Heiya

Japanese: 尾張平野 - おわりへいや
Owari Plain - Owari Heiya

...The eastern part of Owari is connected to the Chita Peninsula, which is made up of Pliocene and Pleistocene deposits. The clay contained in the Seto clay layer and the Tokoname shale layer supports the ceramics industries of Seto and Tokoname. The Nobi Plain (Owari Plain) is the second largest plain in Japan after the Kanto Plain, with an area of about 1,800 km2. From the north, it is followed by the Kiso River alluvial fan with Inuyama at its apex, the natural levees, and the delta lowlands. The alluvial fan was once dominated by mulberry fields, but after the war it became dominated by livestock and vegetable farming. On the natural levees, you can see radishes in Miyashige, seedlings in Inazawa, and a chicken farm in Ukino, Ichinomiya City. In the delta lowlands, in addition to rice farming, lotus root cultivation and greenhouse horticulture are also popular. In all cases, intensive suburban agriculture has developed in the vicinity of the large consumer city of Nagoya.

From [Nobi Plain]

...It is bounded to the east by the Owari Hills and Owari Mountains, which continue southwest of the Mino-Mikawa Plateau, to the north by the Ryohaku Mountains, and to the west by the steep eastern slopes of the tilted Yoro and Ibuki Mountains, and to the south by Ise Bay. As Owari Province and Mino Province are separated by the Kiso River, the east is called the Owari Plain, and the west is called the Mino Plain or Seino Plain. The Neogene formations that make up the Owari Hills gently slope at an angle of 2 to 3 degrees southwest near Inuyama and west near Seto, and can be said to be a typical structural basin resulting from tilting movement with a low west and high east centered around Yatomi in Ama County.
