Caput succedaneum (English spelling)

When a baby passes through the narrow birth canal, pressure from all sides can cause damage to the subcutaneous soft tissue in the area that is first to move forward. edema ( Fushu ) (Swelling) and bleeding occur, resulting in a bump-like protrusion. Many babies are born head first, so in that case, it occurs on the head. Depending on where you are leading the way, buttocks ( Denbu ) It can also occur on the skin and feet.

It is visible immediately after birth and is about the size of a palm. Friction during passage through the birth canal can cause abrasions on the surface and surrounding skin. It is soft when pressed with a finger, and leaves a dent when pressed. Cephalhematoma ( Appreciation ) However, a cephalohematoma can be distinguished by the fact that it feels like there is liquid inside it (fluctuating sensation) when touched and does not leave a depression when pressed.

It will be absorbed naturally and disappear within 2 to 3 days. It is not pathological and does not require treatment.

　赤ちゃんが狭い産道を通過する際に、周囲からの圧迫によって先頭で進む部分の皮下の軟部組織に浮腫(ふしゅ)（むくみ）や出血が起こり、こぶ状に隆起したものです。多くの赤ちゃんは頭を先にして生まれてきますので、その際は頭部に生じます。先頭で進む場所によっては臀部(でんぶ)や足にできることもあります。

　出生直後からみられ、手のひらで包みこめる程度の大きさです。産道を通過する際の摩擦により、表面や周囲の皮膚に擦り傷ができることもあります。指で押すと軟らかく、押した跡にくぼみが残ります。これに似たものに頭血腫(とうけっしゅ)がありますが、頭血腫は触れるとなかに液体がある感じ（波動性）があり、押したあともくぼみが残らないことで区別できます。

　2～3日で自然に吸収されて消えます。とくに病的なものではなく、治療の必要はありません。
