Imperative delegation

Japanese: 命令的委任 - めいれいてきいにん

Also known as compulsory delegation, this system aims to place representatives under the control of the electoral college of their constituency. The following points are often listed as its contents: (1) The electoral college gives detailed instructions to representatives, who are obligated to follow them. (2) Representatives must report to the electoral college on their actions in Congress. (3) If the electoral college determines that a representative has not followed its instructions, it may sue the representative for damages. (4) The electoral college may remove a representative from office at will.

強制委任ともいう。代議士をその選挙区の選挙人団の統制の下におくことを目的とする制度である。その内容として，以下の諸点をあげることが多い。(1)選挙人団は，代議士に対して詳細な訓令を与える。代議士は，それを遵守する義務を負う。(2)代議士は，議会におけるその行動につき選挙人団に報告しなければならない。(3)選挙人団は，代議士が訓令に従っていないと判断する場合には，代議士に対して損害賠償を請求しうる。(4)選挙人団は，代議士を任意に罷免することができる。
