Action drama
〘 noun 〙① A play that depicts the state of society as it is. ※Theater Improvement Law (1886) (edited by Nakamura Zenpei) "A man who places the highest priority on his truly authentic action dramas, that is, those who portray the state of society as it is and portray it realistically." ② A play or film that is centered around action scenes such as fight scenes. ※Osaka Inn (1925-26) (Mizukami Takitaro) 8 "He doesn't even notice the action on stage where the sword fights are taking place." ③ An actual fight as intense as a play or film, or a turmoil that is reminiscent of a dramatic development. ※Jiji Shimpo - December 31, 1897 (Meiji 30) "There are certainly those who expect that an earth-shattering action drama will be performed in the not-too-distant future."
