Kimura Abiko founded this girls' school in 1885 in Kojimachi, Tokyo, without the help of foreign missionaries, on the belief that the foundation of true education for women requires Christian faith that does not belong to any particular denomination. Kimura died the year after the school was founded, and Iwamoto Zenji took over. Among the teachers were Kitamura Tokoku, Shimazaki Toson, and Hirata Tokiki, who taught freedom and development and nurtured pioneers of women's liberation. They also sent out such notables as Hani Motoko and Soma Kokko. After Iwamoto left, the school fell into decline, and closed in 1913.
