Play. 3 acts. Written by Enomoto Torahiko. First performed at the Tokyo Kabukiza in November 1912. The cast included Kataoka Nizaemon XI as the potter Kakiemon, Ichimura Uzaemon 15 as his disciple Kurisaku, and Nakamura Utaemon V as his younger sister Otane. It is an adaptation of the third volume of the Western History, translated by Nakamura Masanao, entitled "The Legend of the Three Potters." However, the play was already performed in 1872 in a play in the northern part of Kyoto, with a version adapted by Sahashi Tomisaburo called "The Trade in Powder-Colored Pottery," and Eugène Briu's "Bernard Palissy" (1880), so the influence of both can be inferred.
