Japanese: ムロアジ(室鰺) - ムロアジ（英語表記）Decapterus muroadsi

A marine fish of the family Carangidae in the order Perciformes that has a lateral line. Seven species of the genus Carangidae are found in the waters off Japan, but they have a small fin behind each of the dorsal and anal fins, which is not present in horse mackerel and other species. In addition to its standard Japanese name of Muroaji, Moro D. lajang is also commonly called Muroaji and is often confused with it. The morphology is very similar, but the scales on the top of the head of the former can be seen up to the upper front end of the eye, while in the latter they end near the center or upper rear end of the eye. Muroaji is also known as Akaze, and is also known as Kintaka and Kinmuro (Wakayama).

側線上にぜんごがあるスズキ目アジ科の海産魚。ムロアジ類は日本近海に7種分布するが，背びれとしりびれの後に一つずつ小さい離鰭（りき）がある。これはマアジなどにない。標準和名ムロアジのほか，モロD.lajangも一般にムロアジと呼ばれ混同されることが多い。形態はよく似ているが，前者は頭頂のうろこが眼の前端部の上部まで見られるが，後者では眼の中央部あるいは後端の上部付近で終わっている。ムロアジは別名アカゼと呼ばれ，キンタカ，キンムロ(和歌山)の名もある。
