Kamonjigoya - Kamonjigoya

Japanese: 嘉門次小屋 - かもんじごや
Kamonjigoya - Kamonjigoya

...The plain timber was carried on people's backs over Tokugo Pass (2,135m), while the oak trees (for roofing boards) and firewood were carried downstream down the Azusa River. The Azusa River basin is also a treasure trove of wild animals such as Japanese serows and Asiatic black bears, and river fish such as char. Many people came to Kamikochi to hunt in the winter and fish in the summer, and the existing Kamonji hut was a typical hunter's hut. From the mid-Meiji period to the beginning of the Showa period, national forest was rented from Tokusawa to Myojin Pond and Konashidaira, and cattle were grazed during the summer, but this was abolished when Kamikochi became a tourist destination.
