Japanese: 村上浪六 - むらかみなみろく
Murakami Namiroku - Murakami Minamiroku

Novelist. Born in Sakai, Osaka. Real name Makoto. Alternative name Chinu no Ura Namiroku, owner of Minshian. In 1890 (Meiji 23), he became a proofreader for the Hochi Shimbun newspaper, and the following year, at the recommendation of editor-in-chief Morita Shiken, he published his debut novel, Mikazuki, which was well-received. His works, such as Yakko no Koman (1892), Ato no Mikazuki (1894), and Kyoukaku Shinzui Myohōin Kanpachi (1926), have the motif of the "chivalrous" men who are slaves of the town, and are known as "bachibin novels." Other notable works include "Yare-daiko" (1892), in which a man stands up to authority with pure passion and dies sticking to his principles, and "Hakken-nagaya" (Eight Tenement Houses), three volumes (1906-08), which depicts life in a boarding house for rent.
