Munakata Family Records

Japanese:
Munakata Family Records
This is a basic law for governing the Munakata Shrine territory, enacted on January 9, 1313 (Showa 2) by Munakata Ujimori, the former Daiguji of Munakata Taisha Shrine. It consists of 13 articles in total. A basic law called "Osatsu" was enacted and issued on February 8, 1259 (Shogen 1), about 50 years earlier, regarding the performance and worship of Shinto and Buddhist ceremonies, the repair and construction of various shrines and temples, agricultural promotion, and other administrative and miscellaneous duties. This document was enacted as a supplement to this "Osatsu." Ujimori had handed over the duties of Daiguji and other territorial titles to his young eldest son Matsuhoshimaru (Ujinori) on October 9, 1312, the previous year, and enacted this document in response to the serious situation of the change of Daiguji and the increase in annual tax due to the Munakata Shrine being directly under the control of the shogunate.
