2,5-furandione. C ₄ H ₂ O ₃ (98.06). In industrial applications, it is obtained by the air oxidation of benzene in the presence of vanadium oxide or molybdenum oxide. In laboratory applications, it is obtained by dehydrating maleic or malic acid or by pyrolyzing acetylmaleic anhydride. Colorless needle-like crystals. Melting point: 52.8 °C, boiling point: 202 °C, 95 °C (2.66 kPa). 1.48. Sublimable. Soluble in water, acetone, ethyl acetate, chloroform, and benzene, slightly soluble in carbon tetrachloride and petroleum ether. It easily undergoes Diels-Alder reaction with linear or cyclic compounds having conjugated double bonds. It is reduced to succinic anhydride. It is also reacted with ammonia or various amines under pressure to produce aspartic acid or its N -substituted derivatives. It is used in the manufacture of unsaturated polyester resins and various copolymers, and is an intermediate in organic synthesis. If it comes into contact with the skin or eyes, wash thoroughly with water. [CAS 108-31-6]

2,5-furandione．C₄H₂O₃(98.06)．工業的には，ベンゼンを酸化バナジウムあるいは酸化モリブデンの存在下に空気酸化すると得られる．実験室的には，マレイン酸あるいはリンゴ酸を脱水するか，アセチルマレン酸無水物を熱分解すると得られる．無色の針状結晶．融点52.8 ℃，沸点202 ℃，95 ℃(2.66 kPa)．1.48．昇華性．水，アセトン，酢酸エチル，クロロホルム，ベンゼンに可溶，四塩化炭素，石油エーテルに難溶．共役二重結合をもつ鎖状あるいは環状化合物と容易にディールス-アルダー反応を行う．還元すると無水コハク酸となる．また，加圧下でアンモニアあるいは種々のアミンと反応させると，アスパラギン酸あるいはそのN-置換体を生じる．不飽和ポリエステル樹脂および種々の共重合体の製造のほか，有機合成の中間体になる．皮膚や眼などについたときは十分に水で洗う．[CAS 108-31-6]
