Muko [city] - Beyond

Japanese: 向日[市] - むこう

A city in the southern part of Kyoto Prefecture. It was incorporated as a city in 1972. It occupies the western part of the Kyoto Basin and borders the southwestern part of Kyoto City. The Tokaido Main Line, Hankyu Kyoto Line, and National Route 171 run through the city, and it is the core of the Rakunan Industrial Zone, with many electrical, textile, and food factories. The hills are famous for their bamboo shoots. It is the closest station to Rakusai New Town, and residential development is underway, making it the prefecture's highest population density. The ruins of Nagaokakyo, built by Emperor Kanmu (historic site), are located within the Nagaokakyo city area. 7.72 ^km2 . Population: 54,328 (2010).

京都府南部の市。1972年市制。京都盆地西部を占め，京都市の南西部に接する。東海道本線，阪急京都線，国道171号線が縦貫し，電機，繊維，食品などの多くの工場があり洛南工業地帯の中核をなす。丘陵地は有名なたけのこの産地。洛西ニュータウンの最寄り駅があって宅地開発が進み，人口密度は府下最大。長岡京市域にかけ桓武天皇によって造営された長岡京跡（史跡）がある。7.72km²。５万4328人（2010）。
