Infinite Embrace

Japanese: 無限抱擁 - むげんほうよう

A full-length novel by Takii Kosaku. Published by Kaizosha in 1927, it is a compilation of four short stories published in Kaizo and other magazines from 1921 to 1924. The protagonist, Takeuchi Shinichi, hangs out in Yoshiwara and meets a prostitute named Matsuko, who he falls in love with. With childlike feelings, he pours out his pure love for Matsuko and eventually decides to marry her. However, due to her harsh lifestyle up until that point, Matsuko's health deteriorates after the marriage, and she eventually coughs up blood and becomes a guest who never returns. Even though the woman is a prostitute, the serious love story is written in a tense style, making it an ethical tale of youth.

滝井孝作の長編小説。1921‐24年《改造》その他各誌に載せた四つの短編を合わせ，27年改造社刊。主人公竹内信一は吉原に遊び，娼妓松子を知って心ひかれる。彼は子どものような気持ちをもち，松子に純粋な愛をささげ，ついに結婚にまで踏み切る。が，松子はそれまでの無理な生活のため，結婚後は健康がすぐれず，やがて喀血し不帰の客となってしまう。相手が娼妓とはいえ，真剣な恋愛が緊張感をもった文体で綴られ，倫理的な青春の物語となっている。
