Didacus

…Born into a noble family in Castile, Spain, he studied at the Ecclesial College in Palencia, and became a canon of the Church of Osma around 1199. When he accompanied Bishop Didacus of Osma to Rome, he came into contact with the spirit and movement of the Cathars (Albigensians) that had spread to southern France, and he aimed to educate them. He became an itinerant preacher of the truth of the faith, following the poverty of Christ in the Gospel. In early 1215, he established a training school for evangelical preachers in Toulouse and planned a new monastic order, which was finally approved by Pope Honorius III (reigned 1216-27) on December 22, 1216. …
