A medical book from the Western Jin Dynasty (265-316) in China. Written by Wang Shuhe, who is considered the founder of diagnostic science centered on pulse diagnosis, this 10-volume work is the oldest surviving Chinese book on pulse diagnosis. Its contents include a compilation of quotes from classic medical books such as "Su Wen" and "Shanghan Lun" on the various pulse diagnosis methods that had been used in China up until that point, as well as the author's own unique views. It defines over 20 types of pulse as standards, and also clarifies the relationship between the areas where the pulse is diagnosed and the internal organs. It has had a major impact as a basic reference on pulse diagnosis. [Yamamoto Noriko] [References] |Source: Shogakukan Encyclopedia Nipponica About Encyclopedia Nipponica Information | Legend |
