A suspension bridge that connects Magosaki, Ogeshima, Naruto City, Tokushima Prefecture, and Kadosaki, Awaji Island, Hyogo Prefecture. It is one of the bridges connecting Honshu and Shikoku. It is 1,629m long and the main tower is 144.38m high. It opened in 1985. It has a two-story structure, with the upper level being a six-lane road for automobiles only, and the lower level being for railways and built to Shinkansen standards. The Akashi Kaikyo Bridge opened in 1998, connecting Honshu and Shikoku via the Kobe Awaji Naruto Expressway. 徳島県鳴門市の大毛島孫崎と兵庫県淡路島門崎を結ぶ吊橋。本州四国連絡橋の1つ。全長 1629m,主塔高 144.38m。 1985年開通。2階構造になっており,上部は6車線の自動車専用道路,下部は鉄道用で新幹線規格になっている。 98年に明石海峡大橋が開通し,本州と四国が神戸淡路鳴門自動車道で結ばれた。
