A mountain in Kashihara City, northern Nara Prefecture. It is also written as Miminashiyama, and until recently it was called Tenjinyama by locals because Tenjin Shrine (Minamiyamaguchi Shrine) is located at the northeastern foot of the mountain. It is 140 meters above sea level. It is made of pomegranate-containing andesite and has the shape of a bell-shaped volcano, but the main part of the mountain is thought to be buried in alluvial deposits. It is known as one of the Yamato Sanzan (three mountains of Yamato), along with Unebiyama and Amenokaguyama, and is often mentioned in poems such as the Manyoshu. To the south is the special historic site of the Fujiwara Palace ruins. [Ichiro Kikuchi] [Reference] |View from the south.
