A village in Gujo County, central Gifu Prefecture. Population 5,504 (1995). The Nagara River runs south through the center of the town, and National Route 156 and the Nagaragawa Railway run along the river, as well as the Minami Interchange on the Tokai-Hokuriku Expressway. The main settlement, Takeda, is at the entrance to Oku-Mino and has long been a key transportation hub, with raft trips down the Nagara River to transport timber cut in the depths of Gujo being popular. The main industry is agriculture, with eggplant and strawberry cultivation thriving. Due to the convenient transportation, an auto parts factory was established here early on, and there are many commuters to the neighboring cities of Mino and Seki to the south.
