Flandrin, Marquet, and Rouault. The art critic Louis Vauxcelles commented that the torso looked like “Donatello in a cage of wild beasts (Fauves)”, and thus the term “Fauvism” was born. However, it seems that the term “Fauve” itself had already been used before Vauxcelles. …
