Shuttle car

Japanese: シャトルカー（英語表記）shuttle car

A type of vehicle used to transport ore, rubble, etc. The bottom of the container is a flight conveyor so that ore can be loaded at one end and unloaded at the other end. There are crawler types as well, but most run on four rubber tires driven by an electric motor. Electricity is usually supplied by cable. Capacity is around 2-5 tons. It was developed to transport coal mined by continuous miners and other machines in mines that use the American pillar mining method. [Nishimatsu Yuichi]

鉱石，ずりなどの運搬用車両の一種。鉱石を一端から積みこみ，他端から降ろすために，容器の底はフライトコンベヤになっている。クローラー式もあるが，多くは4輪のゴムタイヤを電動機で駆動して走行する。電力はケーブルによって供給されるのが普通である。容量は2～5t程度。アメリカの残柱式採炭法を用いている炭鉱で，コンティニュアスマイナー(採炭機)などで採炭した石炭を搬出するために開発された。【西松裕一】
