A city located in South Gyeongsang Province, South Korea, halfway between Daegu and Busan. It has an area of ​​799.01 square kilometers and a population of 115,787 (2000). In 1931, it was promoted from a myeon to an eup. In 1989, it was promoted to a city. In 1995, it was merged with Miryang County. It is an agricultural product distribution center and economic center. It mainly produces rice, vegetables, chili peppers, and apples, and industries such as textiles, pottery, and machinery are developing. It is a transportation hub where the Gyeongbu Railway Line and the national highway pass through and where local roads converge.
