Mitsui Takamine

Japanese: 三井高棟 - みついたかみね

1857-1948 A businessman from the Meiji to early Showa period.
Born January 14, 1857. The eighth son of Mitsui Takayoshi. The 10th head of the Mitsui family. In 1885, he took the name of the 15th head, Hachiroemon. In 1891, he founded the Mitsui Family Association, and in 1907, he became president of the Mitsui Partnership, and together with director Dan Takuma, he oversaw the Mitsui zaibatsu. He retired during the anti-zaibatsu movement during the Great Depression of 1933. He passed away on February 9, 1948. He was 92 years old. He was born in Kyoto. His posthumous name was Muneyoshi.

安政4年1月14日生まれ。三井高福(たかよし)の8男。三井総領家10代。明治18年15代八郎右衛門を襲名。26年三井家同族会を設立,42年三井合名の発足で社長となり,理事長団琢磨(たくま)とともに三井財閥を統括した。昭和8年恐慌下の反財閥運動のなかで引退。昭和23年2月9日死去。92歳。京都出身。法名は宗恭。
