Overpayment - overpayment

...A general term for overpayments and mispayments. An overpayment is the amount of tax that is reduced by a reduction in the amount of tax after the amount of tax determined through a valid (but illegal) tax return, tax reassessment, assessment decision, etc. is paid or collected.
