Japanese: 美豆良 - みずら

Also written as tsunokami. A hairstyle worn by men in the ancient period. The hair is divided into two parts, with the ends tied at the ears. There are styles in which the ends are rolled up in a topknot, or left hanging down, and there are styles in which the folded hair is tied in the middle to create rings at the top and bottom, and styles in which the top is tied and a large ring is created at the bottom. From the ancient period onwards, this hairstyle was worn mainly by boys of the aristocracy before coming of age, and continued from the early modern period to the end of the Edo period.

角髪とも書く。上代男子の髪形。髪を左右に分け，毛先をそれぞれ耳の辺で結び綰(わが)ねる。毛先を髻(もとどり)の中にまるめ込むものと，端を出してたらすものとがあり，また折り曲げた毛の中央を結び，上下に輪のできるものと，上部を結び，下に大きく輪のできるものとがある。上代以降は主として貴族の元服前の少年がこの髪形を結い，近世から幕末まで続いた。
