A small village in Hampshire, southern England. 8km south of the town of Alton. It is famous for the work "The Natural History of Selborne" (1789) by the Rev. Gilbert White (1720-93), who was born here and spent most of his life there. In this book, he accurately observed the behavior of plants, birds, and fish, and showed his infinite love for nature. White's house still stands today, and is now the Gilbert White Museum and Library. The surrounding area is still as idyllic as it was 200 years ago.
