Diplomatic language
Words that are merely used to whitewash one's relationship with others. Flowery words that are just lip service. Flattery.

[Example] I don't think I have the right to force such anguished repentance on my students just because I'm a teacher. No, this is my diplomatic way of saying it. [Yojiro Ishizaka *Young People | 1933-37]
