A method of divining the will of the gods by drawing lots. In the past, divine lottery was used to determine the head of a festival, as well as naming and determining the succession of a family. Methods include tamaki-jutsu, which uses paper balls or pebbles on which the divine decree is written, tsuku-jutsu, which uses strings of paper or straw, and furigana, which uses a bamboo comb placed in a tube and shaken out. Famous shrines and temples sell omikki-jutsu, and you can see countless trees with them tied to them in their precincts. Source : Heibonsha Encyclopedia About MyPedia Information |
