A city on the banks of the Yalu River in the northern part of Jagang Province, North Korea. It is the terminus of the Manpo Line. It is connected by rail to Ji'an, China, on the opposite bank. Lumber processing is carried out at a lumberyard that stores Yalu River timber. Local industries such as spinning and daily necessities are also well developed, and there are duck and chicken farms along the Yalu River. There is also the Seogangjeong Pavilion on the banks of the Yalu River, built to commemorate the defeat of the Manchu invasion in 1636.
