A town in northeastern South Sudan. It is located about 690 km south of Khartoum, the capital of Sudan, on the right bank of the White Nile, just downstream of the confluence of the Sobat River. Livestock such as cattle, sheep, and goats are raised, and cotton, peanuts, corn, and sesame are cultivated. There is a livestock medical research institute. Population: 72,000 (estimated).
