Of these, ishihimi fishing is a primitive fishing method that uses only the tides without any device to forcibly guide fish. Horseshoe-shaped or square natural stones are piled on the shoreline, and fish that come in with the tide at high tide are scooped up after the tide comes out from between the stones at low tide.
