A city in the western part of Tokyo. It was incorporated as a city in 1917. It occupies the eastern foot of the Kanto Mountains, the Hachioji Basin and the surrounding mountainous areas. The southeastern part of the city is included in Tama New Town. The city is served by the Chuo Main Line, Yokohama Line, Hachiko Line, Keio Electric Railway, Chuo Expressway, and Ken-O Expressway, and department stores and major supermarkets are concentrated around Hachioji Station, and further development and improvement are being promoted.
