Akiyama [village] - Akiyama

Japanese: 秋山[村] - あきやま

A village in Minamitsuru County, eastern Yamanashi Prefecture. Population 2,491 (1995). Bordering Kanagawa Prefecture to the east. The Akiyama River flows east through the center of the town, and 18 settlements are scattered across the slopes along the river, where farmland has been developed. The area used to be dominated by agriculture and forestry, but in recent years the agricultural population has decreased and the trend towards part-time work has led to a decrease in the reliance on agriculture and forestry. The area has also sought to attract factories, with factories doing things like plastic molding and precision machinery part assembly moving in. Blessed with natural surroundings, the area is working to develop tourist destinations, with the village-run Takagane mountain foothills campground and a tourist sports field.

山梨県東部，南都留郡の村。人口2491(1995)。東は神奈川県に接する。中央部を秋山川が東流し，川沿いの傾斜地に耕地が開かれ，18の集落が散在する。農林業主体の地域であったが，近年は農業人口の減少，兼業化の進行により，農林業への依存度は低くなった。また工場誘致を図り，プラスチック成型加工や精密機械の部品組立てなどの工場が進出している。自然環境に恵まれ，村営高金山麓キャンプ場，観光スポーツ広場など，観光地づくりに努めている。
