Mackenzie Mountains

Japanese: マッケンジー[山脈]（英語表記）Mackenzie Mountains

A mountain range that runs from the eastern Yukon Territory to the western Northwest Territories in Canada. It is part of the Rocky Mountains. Its highest peak is Keel Peak (2,972m). It forms the watershed between the Yukon River system to the west and the Mackenzie River system to the east. The foothills are covered with coniferous forests, but most of the mountain range is tundra and alpine vegetation, and glaciers can be seen in some areas. There are several gold mines in the southwest foothills, including Dawson. [Masai Yasuo]

カナダ，ユーコン･テリトリー東部からノースウェスト･テリトリーズ西部へかけて走る山脈。ロッキー山系の一部。最高峰はキール･ピーク(2972m)。西側のユーコン川水系と東側のマッケンジー川水系の分水界となっている。山麓部は針葉樹林におおわれるが，山地の大半はツンドラや高山植物帯で，一部に氷河が見られる。南西の山麓部一帯には，ドーソンをはじめ，いくつもの金山がある。【正井泰夫】
