Yukan Matsui
Years of birth: unknown Years of birth and death: unknown A military commander during the Azuchi-Momoyama period. His origins are unknown, but it is said that Oda Nobunaga selected him from Kiyosu as a retainer. He served as a close aide, playing a key role in negotiations with temples, shrines, and various feudal lords, and is known for his work in negotiating with temples, shrines, and feudal lords, such as in 1574 when Nobunaga ordered the removal of the Ranjatai from the Shosoin Repository of Todaiji Temple, and in the following year acting as an intermediary for Miyoshi Yasunaga's surrender and mediating peace with Hongan-ji Temple. In the same year, Matsunaga Hisahide rebelled, and in the same year, Araki Murashige rebelled, and in both cases, Tomokan was responsible for pacifying them. In the Shincho-kōki, he appears under the name of Miyauchikyō Hoin from around 1575. In 1578, he also negotiated with Kennyo's side as a representative of Nobunaga's side in peace negotiations with Hongan-ji Temple, and made concrete moves to seize the temple. After the Honnoji Incident in 1582, he served Toyotomi Hideyoshi and was in charge of governing temples and shrines in Kyoto and the Settsu area. His whereabouts are unknown after the record in the Tamonin Diary that he was dismissed from his position as Sakai no Mandokoro by Hideyoshi on June 14, 1582.
