When the stem itself wraps around another object, it is called a vine. Modified stems are found in grapes, peas, pumpkins, and barberry; modified leaf stalks are found in button vines and trumpet vines; modified leaflets are found in peas; whole leaves with tendrils that photosynthesize via a pair of stipules on both sides are found in Lathyrus aphaca , and modified roots are found in velvet vine.
