〘Noun〙 A common name for the class Gastropoda in the phylum Mollusca. A general term for shellfish with spiral or umbrella-shaped shells and large, wide soles. Includes turban shells, pond snails, river snails, snails, and abalone. Used in correspondence with bivalve shells.
