Makioka [town] - Makioka

Japanese: 牧丘[町] - まきおか

A former town in Higashiyamanashi district, in northern Yamanashi prefecture. The Chichibu Mountains make up most of the town area, and the main settlement, Kubodaira, is in the Fuefuki River basin in the southeast. Buses run from Shiozawa city (now Koshu city). Fruit cultivation, including grapes and apples, is thriving. There is a ski resort in Otome Highlands in the north, and Mt. Kokushigatake at the northern end. In March 2005, it was incorporated into Mitomi village, Higashiyamanashi district, and Yamanashi city. 101.85 ^km2 . 6,140 people (2003).

山梨県北部，東山梨郡の旧町。秩父山地が町域の大部分を占め，主集落窪平は南東部の笛吹川流域にあり，塩山市（現・甲州市）からバスが通じる。ブドウ，リンゴなどの果樹栽培が盛ん。北部の乙女高原にスキー場，北端に国師ヶ岳がある。2005年３月東山梨郡三富村と山梨市へ編入。101.85km²。6140人（2003）。
