Makioka [town] - Makioka
A former town in Higashiyamanashi district, in northern Yamanashi prefecture. The Chichibu Mountains make up most of the town area, and the main settlement, Kubodaira, is in the Fuefuki River basin in the southeast. Buses run from Shiozawa city (now Koshu city). Fruit cultivation, including grapes and apples, is thriving. There is a ski resort in Otome Highlands in the north, and Mt. Kokushigatake at the northern end. In March 2005, it was incorporated into Mitomi village, Higashiyamanashi district, and Yamanashi city. 101.85 km2 . 6,140 people (2003).
