Japanese: 石浜純太郎 - いしはまじゅんたろう

1888-1968 A scholar of Oriental history from the Taisho to Showa periods.
Born November 10, 1888. Father of Ishihama Tsuneo. Researched ancient Oriental languages and Buddhist scriptures and ancient documents excavated in the Western Regions. Taught at Ryukoku University and other institutions, and became a professor at Kansai University in 1949. Chairman of the Japan Society for Tibetan Studies in 1953. Also known for his research on the Xixia language with Nevsky. Died February 11, 1968. Age 79. Born in Osaka. Graduated from Tokyo Imperial University. Written works include "Stories on Oriental Studies."

明治21年11月10日生まれ。石浜恒夫の父。東洋の古語と西域出土の仏典,古文献を研究。竜谷大などでおしえ,昭和24年関西大教授となる。28年日本西蔵(チベツト)学会会長。ネフスキーとの西夏語(せいかご)研究でも知られる。昭和43年2月11日死去。79歳。大阪出身。東京帝大卒。著作に「東洋学の話」など。
