The leaves grow in bundles from the stump, and are sword-shaped with a pointed tip, 1.5 to 2.5 meters long and 12 to 15 cm wide. A flower stalk emerges from the center of the stump, and yellow spike-shaped flowers resembling lilies bloom. It is propagated by seeds or division.
