[1] (Julius Robert von Mayer) German physician and physicist. As a doctor on a Dutch ship, he conducted research using blood samples taken from sailors and published important concepts such as the law of conservation of energy and the work equivalent of heat, but these were not accepted by the academic community at the time. ( 1814-78 ) [2] (Conrad Ferdinand Meyer) Swiss poet and novelist. Taking themes from the Renaissance period, he portrayed the conflict between human fate and divine wisdom in a tightly structured and concise style. Discovered a series of nitro, nitroso, and isonitro compounds, including nitroethane, as well as thiophene, aldoxime, and ketoxime. He also discovered steric hindrance in the esterification reaction of aromatic carboxylic acids, and coined the term "stereoisomer." In his later years, his health was damaged by high-temperature experiments, leading to his suicide. ( 1848-1997 ) [5] (Kurt Heinrich Meyer) German-Swiss chemist. His achievements include elucidating keto-enol tautomerism, elucidating the molecular structure of polymeric compounds such as rubber sulfur and silk, and proving that starch and cellulose are polysaccharides.
