Usuisha - Usuisha

Japanese:
Usuisha - Usuisha
A representative silk-reeling association established in Gunma Prefecture in 1878. Hagiwara Otokichi, Senpei, and Shigejuro of Higashikamiisobe Village, Usui County, gathered together sericulture farmers who engaged in za-reeling silk-reeling to form the Usui Zagari Seishisha, which shipped silk to Yokohama while working together to return the silk to the sea. Inspired by the activities of the Maebashi za-reeling association, the success of this attempt led to the formation of 12 more similar associations in the county in the following year of 1879, which united to form the Usui Seishisha (head office in Haraichi-cho). The company was renamed Usui-sha in 1884, and the following year, when Hagiwara Ryotaro became president, succeeding Hagiwara Otokichi and Shigejuro, it expanded rapidly, and by 1910, when it became the Usui-sha Limited Liability Credit Sales Association Federation under the Industrial Association Law, it had become a huge association with a total of 179 associations (56 of which were from outside the prefecture) and approximately 30,000 members.
