Kama is a former town in Kaho District, central Fukuoka Prefecture. It developed as a coal mining town from the mid-Meiji period onwards, but all the mines have now closed. The development of housing estates on former coal mine sites has led to the town becoming a satellite city of Fukuoka City. 福岡県中部,嘉穂郡の旧町。明治中期以後,炭鉱町として発展したが,現在はすべて閉山した。炭鉱跡地の住宅団地造成によって福岡市の衛星都市化が進む。2006年3月,山田市,嘉穂郡稲築町,嘉穂町と合併し市制,嘉麻市となる。8.45km2。6599人(2003)。
