All-India National Congress

...Its origins lie in the Indian National Congress held in Bombay in December 1885, but there were two currents at the time of its formation. One was the All-India National Congress, which was formed by S. Banerjee and others in the struggle against the Ilbert Bill, and which represented Indian intellectuals and the middle class who were opposed to the British government's racial discrimination administration. The other was the liberal section of British officials.
