Usumbura

...It is located on a plateau with beautiful scenery and a cool climate, and is also known as a tourist destination. In the 19th century, it was a poor village called Usumbura, but in 1899 it became a military base for German East Africa, and after World War I it became the capital of the Belgian Mandate of Ruanda-Urundi. When Ulundi separated from Ruanda in 1962 and became independent as Burundi, it changed its name to Bujumbura and became the capital.
