A plateau-like mountain range in the United States that stretches from north-central New Hampshire to parts of Maine. It is 140 km long and 24-32 km wide. It has many passes caused by glacial erosion called notches, a complex geological structure, and granite at higher elevations. The range of peaks with elevations of 1,500-1,800 km is called the President Range, and its highest peak is Mount Washington (1,917 m). It has over 1,610 km of nature trails, numerous campgrounds, and ski resorts, making it a tourist resort all year round.
