Japan's largest logistics company. In 1937, the company was established as a special company under the Nippon Express Company Law, taking over from Kokusai Express and five other companies, and with government investment. Since then, it has undergone a series of consolidations, established a one-station, one-store system, and monopolized the forwarding industry. When the law was abolished in 1949, the company became a private company, but with its nationwide network of offices, it maintains an overwhelming advantage by managing shipping and warehousing, with a focus on forwarding and trucking. It has about 1,100 locations in Japan and 294 locations in 33 countries overseas, and has built one of the largest networks in the world. Its home delivery service is known as Pelican. Headquarters in Tokyo. Capital in 2011 was 70.1 billion yen, and sales for the fiscal year ending March 2011 were 1.6171 trillion yen. Sales breakdown (%) is transportation 81, sales 18, and other 1.
