Todoroki [Hot Spring] - Todoroki

Japanese: 轟[温泉] - とどろき

This hot spring is located in Naruko Town, Tamatsukuri County, northwest of Miyagi Prefecture. It is located about 11km northwest of Naruko Onsen, upstream along the Arao River, and is the center of the Onikobe Onsen Village. The spring source is divided into an old bath and a new bath; the old bath was already known during the Genna era (1615-24), and the new bath was reportedly discovered during the Kaei era (1848-54). The spring quality is a pure salt spring, with a temperature of 80°C. It is about a 30-minute bus ride from JR Rikuuto Line Naruko Station. It is also close to the Onikobe Ski Resort. 宮城県北西部，玉造（たまつくり）郡鳴子町にある温泉。鳴子温泉の北西，荒雄川に沿って11kmほどさかのぼった地にあり，鬼首（おにこうべ）温泉郷の中心をなす。泉源は古湯と新湯に分かれており，古湯は元和年間(1615‐24)にはすでに知られていたもので，新湯は嘉永年間(1848‐54)に発見されたと伝えられる。泉質は純食塩泉，泉温は80℃。JR陸羽東線鳴子駅からバスで約30分。鬼首スキー場にも近い。【谷沢明】
